This issue is an anthology of three horror / supernatural tales:

1. “The Warlock Tree!”

   • Writer: Gerry Conway; Penciler: Barry Windsor‑Smith; Inker: Syd Shores.

   • Plot: A cursed tree, originally tied to a dying warlock, impales a druid/knight, causing a family curse. The tree becomes known as The Warlock Tree. A young couple (the fiancé doesn’t believe in superstition) carve their names on the tree. The woman becomes subject to the curse, responding to sinister voices, walking toward the tree in a trance, manipulated by the evil spirit bound to it.

2. “The Tell Tale Heart”

   • Adaptation: From Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story; adapted by Denny O’Neil; Pencils and inks by Tom Palmer.

   • Plot: A man murders his miserly uncle, hides the body, but is haunted by guilt or by the uncle’s heartbeat (or imagined heartbeat), and “does not get away with the crime.”

3. “Something Lurks on Shadow Mountain!”

   • Writer: Roy Thomas; Art: by John Buscema and John Verpoorten 

   • Plot: A man named George Ashton is duped by a mysterious woman into opening a box; she turns out to be Pandora. By opening the box, he inadvertently unleashes something evil or mischievous. He must then try to deal with the consequences / undo the damage.
