Plot / Synopsis
The issue picks up after Iron Man’s confrontation with the Mandarin. Here’s how the story unfolds:
-
Escape & Flight
Iron Man (Tony Stark) is trying to return home after defeating the Mandarin. Low on power, he commandeers a Chinese fighter jet to make the journey. -
Ambush
As he flies over Yugoslavia (or the Balkans region), NATO forces mistake Iron Man’s jet for a hostile communist aircraft. They fire surface‑to‑air missiles at him. Tony realizes his armor still has enough power to sustain flight after the plane is hit. -
Crash & Peril
The missiles disable or largely destroy the jet, forcing Iron Man to crash‑land in the Swiss Alps (or a remote mountainous area). Exhausted and underpowered, Tony is vulnerable. -
Monstrous Encounter
Waking up after the crash, he finds himself surrounded by strange creatures — the “Children of the Damned” (diminutive humanoids) who lead him to a castle. Inside the castle he is discovered by Frankenstein's Monster. He is taken by the Monster and its charges. -
Battle & New Threat
Iron Man struggles against Frankenstein’s Monster and the Children of the Damned, his weakened state making it a close fight. He manages to overcome them. However, before he can rest, a new villain appears — Dreadknight(Bram Velsing) — riding in on a winged steed and intervening in Iron Man’s conflict.
